Frequently asked questions

What do I get if the workbook has multiple sheets?

With a single sheet you download one CSV file directly. With multiple sheets, CSV files named after each sheet are bundled into one ZIP for download.

How are formulas handled?

The calculated result values that Excel saved in the file are used. The formulas themselves do not appear in the CSV.

Are cell formatting and merges preserved?

No. CSV only holds values, so colors, fonts, borders, and merged cells are not preserved. A merged cell keeps its value only in the first cell.

Can I convert older XLS files?

No. Only the XLSX format is supported. Re-save XLS files as XLSX in Excel and try again.

Is my Excel file sent anywhere?

No. Your files never leave your device. Conversion runs inside your browser and nothing is uploaded.
